So many times my clients will ask me, What do you use in my hair? or I cannot get my hair to feel the way it feels when I leave the salon. One big secret to styling the hair is taking your styling product of choice and working it throughout the hair. And that means from roots to ends. It is good to estimate when you have longer hair that the manufacturers opinion on how much to use should be thrown out the door. Some hair is very thick and long like the type I use in the salon. So using a quarter amount in the hair before you blow dry just doesn’t cut it. And sometimes using a quarter amount on shoulder length hair is too much. Think about it, it is all about density of the hair that determines how much to place in the hair. Always remember to towel dry the hair before using a styling product. Too much moisture in the hair will dilute the product and out the door goes the money you spent on the product. Always remember to comb through the product in the hair, always use a wide tooth comb. Using a close tooth comb will break the hair especially if the hair is blonde or highlighted. You want the product evenly distributed throughout the hair. Then continue onto your blow dry. I also feel that too many products in the hair will take away the lustre from the hair. It will also weigh it down. The proof to the recipe is it is all in the hair design. If the hair is cut well and precise you will not need a lot of hair dressing cremes. You should only need to use one product to simply dry the hair and to style it. And remember start your blow dry by taking out at least 80% of the moisture out of the hair. Then go ahead and pick up a brush to finish off your work. Good styling tips by Joseph Kellner

I get a lot of question from clients who will ask me in the salon during their appointment. ‘Is it better to flat-iron the hair with a hair spray?”
I recommend using hair spray on the hair when using a flat-iron or a curling iron. Preferably an aerosol type of spray. I have found that the use of a pump-action spray has too much “Gum” and also too much “Water” in the product. Also a lot of consumers need to know that the temperature of the flat-iron and also the curling iron should fluctuate during the straightening process and also the curling process. You should not use a high temperature on blonde hair that is artificially lightened. Especially when bleach has been used. Thick coarse hair will need a higher temperature when curling the hair. And hair that has been lightened with a bleach should need to have extra attention to it when curling. Pre-lightened or bleached hair should also have some type of spray added to the section before curling. Make sure your sections are of the same size. A thicker section will give you a looser curl. If that is what you want. When you are finished styling the hair also always use a light condition cream throughout the hair for added softness. This will take away from the crispness of the hair spray. But the hair spray will also give you a firmer hold to the hair.

I would like to take the time to thank Mr. Zucco for sending me the “Lust” from the Seven Sins product he has created. The product performs well for all of my styling needs. There are not a lot of products in the beauty/cosmetic industry I carry. Do to the fact of not having an exclusive in my studio. In other words if I don’t have it, I don’t want a client purchasing it elsewhere. “Lust” does its …job and I am pleased to find a product that will not weigh the hair down and also “Lust” gives me the added volume I want in my blow drying. No need for a ton of styling products sitting on the shelf. It is a good product, I will order for my salon. Get your product out there John you have a winner!!! I will order it for the salon. Love the packaging also, the clients like it also. Joseph Kellner

I have known JMZ for many years, and I was very happy to catch up with him again on FB. Much to my surprise, he has his own hair care line now!
I’ve been a “Salon Rat” since I was 16 years old! Cuts, colors, and …enough products to fill a truck, always looking for the next best thing….
Since I still love trying new hair products, I ordered 3 products from the Seven Sins line, Pride (the shampoo) Sloth (the conditioner) and Lust (pre-styling lotion) I can honestly say, these are by far, some of the best products I have EVER used.
My hair is shoulder length, kind of coarse, but tends to “collapse” if too much product is used on it. I also have it foiled with three different shades of blonde, so it does have its share of damage. When I used Pride & Sloth, I really couldn’t believe how soft and revitalized my hair felt! This was only after one use, so I can’t wait to see how great my hair is going to be with further use.
After the shampoo and conditioner I used Lust. This product is very easy to use, 2 pumps does it for me, worked it through my hair, and just let my hair air dry. When dry, my hair looked shiny, healthy, and (what I have never found in any other product) it brought out the natural wave my hair has, without the “frizzes”, which is great with Summer being here, and you just want to wash your hair and go! I can’t wait to try it when I blow dry and flat-iron my hair as well!
What I really liked as well, is the very little amount of these products you have to use to make them work.
I am definitely sold on these three products, and I will be a return customer…..I’ve experienced 3 of the Seven Sins, can’t wait to see what else this could lead to!!
Wonderful products, and honestly, highly recommended! Thank you JMZ!
Follow these tips and instructions for you wonderful summer time enjoyment. Whether if you are at the beach or on vacation. Here is some really good advice for your artificial hair color!
Wash your hair immediately after swimming with a conditioning shampoo. If you can’t wash your hair immediately, at least rinse your hair in the shower to remove the chlorine or salt water.
After you shampoo, squeeze excess water from your hair and apply a thick, moisturizing conditioner through your hair, concentrating on the ends. Some companies manufacture specific shampoos and conditioners for swimmers that are designed to remove chlorine, but regular hair products formulated for dry hair and chemically treated hair can also easily do the job for you!
Rinse the conditioner from your hair and squeeze excess water from your hair. Dry your hair gently with a towel, and always make sure you comb out the hair with a wide tooth comb. I recommend a wooden comb, plastic combs will create snarls in the hair.
Apply some Shea Butter, or Cholesterol through your hair especially if it is colored treated. Concentrate on the ends of the hair and then work the product up the shaft of the hair.
If you dry your hair with a hair dryer, use the lowest heat setting possible, especially if the hair is fine and foiled highlighted. Blonde hair needs low temperature settings, or it will break if the air from the blow dryer is too high.
Apply cholesterol or Shea butter treatment to your hair once a week if you swim often. This can help protect your hair from the ongoing effects of repeated exposure to chlorine or salt water. You can apply this to the hair and let it stay on for 2-3 hours then shampoo off.
